Zepnap is also utilized as a premedication for sedation before surgical or diagnostic procedures and in the treatment of status epilepticus. The recommended dose varies depending on the indication, patient age, and clinical response, with careful titration advised to minimize adverse effects and dependence risk. Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, and cognitive impairment.
Caution is warranted in patients with a history of substance abuse, respiratory insufficiency, hepatic or renal impairment, and elderly individuals. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Zepnap should be used under strict medical supervision, adhering to prescribed dosages and duration to ensure safety and therapeutic efficacy. It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to lorazepam or other benzodiazepines and in acute narrow-angle glaucoma.
