Ertaz 1GM Injection contains Ertapenem 1000 mg, a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic indicated for the treatment of a variety of serious bacterial infections. Ertapenem exerts its bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins, leading to cell lysis and death. It is effective against a wide range of gram-positive, gram-negative, and anaerobic pathogens, including strains resistant to other beta-lactam antibiotics.

Ertaz 1GM Injection is commonly used in the management of complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated skin and soft tissue infections, community-acquired pneumonia, acute pelvic infections, and complicated urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis. The drug is administered via intravenous or intramuscular injection, with dosing adjusted according to the severity of infection and renal function.
Ertapenem demonstrates a favorable pharmacokinetic profile, allowing once-daily dosing, which enhances patient compliance. It is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include hypersensitivity reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, and local injection site reactions.
