Ertafic 1gm Injection contains Ertapenem, a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. Ertapenem exhibits potent bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic pathogens, including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella species, and Bacteroides fragilis.

Ertafic 1gm Injection is commonly utilized in the management of complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated skin and skin structure infections, community-acquired pneumonia, acute pelvic infections, and urinary tract infections. The drug is administered via intravenous or intramuscular injection, providing convenient once-daily dosing due to its prolonged half-life. Ertapenem demonstrates excellent tissue penetration and is generally well-tolerated, with adverse effects including mild gastrointestinal disturbances, injection site reactions, and rare hypersensitivity responses.
Caution is advised in patients with a history of beta-lactam allergy and those with renal impairment, where dose adjustment may be necessary. Ertafic 1gm Injection should be used under strict medical supervision, following susceptibility testing to optimize therapeutic outcomes and minimize the development of antimicrobial resistance.
