Welldys 80mg/250mg Tablet is a combination medication containing Drotaverine hydrochloride (80mg) and Mefenamic acid (250mg), indicated for the relief of smooth muscle spasms and associated pain. Drotaverine is an antispasmodic agent that acts by inhibiting phosphodiesterase-IV, resulting in increased intracellular cyclic AMP levels and subsequent relaxation of smooth muscles, particularly in the gastrointestinal, biliary, and genitourinary tracts.

Mefenamic acid is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties, functioning primarily through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis responsible for pain and inflammation. The combination is effective in managing conditions such as dysmenorrhea, renal colic, biliary colic, and other spasmodic pain syndromes.
Welldys should be used with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers, bleeding disorders, or hypersensitivity to NSAIDs. Common adverse effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, dizziness, and allergic reactions. It is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic, renal, or cardiac impairment.
