Lifenepa Eye Drop contains Nepafenac 0.1% w/v, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated for the management of ocular inflammation and pain associated with cataract surgery. Nepafenac is a prodrug that penetrates the cornea and is converted by ocular tissue hydrolases into amfenac, an active inhibitor of cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2). By inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, Lifenepa effectively reduces inflammation, pain, and photophobia following intraocular procedures. This ophthalmic suspension is typically administered as one drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily, starting one day prior to surgery and continuing for up to two weeks postoperatively, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Lifenepa Eye Drop is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to nepafenac or any component of the formulation. Caution is advised in patients with corneal epithelial defects or compromised corneal sensitivity. Adverse effects may include transient burning or stinging upon instillation, conjunctival hyperemia, and rare cases of corneal complications.
