Erykine 10000IU/ml Injection contains Recombinant Human Erythropoietin Alfa at a concentration of 10000 IU/ml, a glycoprotein hormone that stimulates erythropoiesis, the production of red blood cells. It is indicated for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including patients on dialysis and those not yet on dialysis, as well as anemia related to chemotherapy in cancer patients, and anemia in HIV-infected patients receiving zidovudine therapy. Erykine acts by binding to erythropoietin receptors on erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow, promoting their proliferation and differentiation, thereby increasing red blood cell mass and improving oxygen delivery to tissues. The injection is administered subcutaneously or intravenously, with dosage individualized based on patient response and hemoglobin levels. Monitoring of hemoglobin and hematocrit is essential to avoid excessive erythropoiesis, which may lead to hypertension, thromboembolic events, or cardiovascular complications. Common adverse effects include hypertension, headache, arthralgia, and injection site reactions. Erykine should be used cautiously in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, and iron status should be optimized prior to and during therapy to ensure efficacy. This product is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to erythropoietin or any component of the formulation.
