Epofit 5000IU Injection contains Recombinant Human Erythropoietin Alfa, a glycoprotein hormone that stimulates erythropoiesis, the production of red blood cells, by acting on erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow. It is indicated for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including patients on dialysis and those not on dialysis, as well as anemia due to chemotherapy in cancer patients and anemia in HIV-infected patients receiving zidovudine therapy.

Epofit 5000IU Injection is also utilized to reduce the need for allogeneic blood transfusions in patients undergoing elective, non-cardiac, non-vascular surgery. The recommended dosage and administration depend on the indication, patient response, and hemoglobin levels, with careful monitoring to avoid excessive erythropoiesis which may increase the risk of thromboembolic events.
The injection is administered subcutaneously or intravenously under medical supervision. Common adverse effects include hypertension, headache, injection site reactions, and flu-like symptoms. Contraindications include uncontrolled hypertension and hypersensitivity to the active substance or any excipients.
