Epofit 10000IU/ml Injection contains Recombinant Human Erythropoietin Alfa at a concentration of 10000IU/ml, a glycoprotein hormone that stimulates erythropoiesis, the production of red blood cells, by promoting the proliferation and differentiation of erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow. This injectable formulation is indicated for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (both in patients on dialysis and those not on dialysis), anemia due to chemotherapy in cancer patients, and anemia in patients with HIV receiving zidovudine therapy. Epofit is also utilized to reduce the need for allogeneic blood transfusions in surgical patients. The pharmacological action of erythropoietin alfa mimics endogenous erythropoietin, thereby increasing hemoglobin levels and improving oxygen delivery to tissues. Dosage and administration should be individualized based on the patient’s clinical condition and hematologic response, with careful monitoring of hemoglobin levels to avoid adverse effects such as hypertension, thromboembolic events, and pure red cell aplasia.
