Xicaine Injection is a sterile solution containing Lidocaine hydrochloride 21.33 mg/ml and Adrenaline 0.0225 mg/ml, indicated for local anesthesia in various surgical, dental, and diagnostic procedures. Lidocaine acts as a rapid-onset amide-type local anesthetic by blocking sodium ion channels, thereby inhibiting nerve impulse conduction and providing effective analgesia. The addition of Adrenaline, a vasoconstrictor, prolongs the anesthetic effect by reducing systemic absorption of Lidocaine, minimizing bleeding at the site of administration, and enhancing the duration and depth of anesthesia.

Xicaine Injection is suitable for infiltration, nerve block, and regional anesthesia techniques. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amide-type local anesthetics or adrenaline, severe cardiac arrhythmias, or untreated hyperthyroidism. Caution is advised in patients with cardiovascular disorders, hepatic impairment, or those receiving other sympathomimetic drugs.
Adverse effects may include local reactions such as erythema, edema, or systemic manifestations like dizziness, hypotension, or allergic reactions.
