Ivermectin (6mg) + Albendazole (400mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Ivermectin binds to glutamate-gated chloride channels in parasites, causing paralysis and preventing reproduction.
Albendazole inhibits tubulin polymerization in helminths, disrupting their metabolism and leading to their death.
Medical applications
Wofeca Tablet contains a combination of Ivermectin 6 mg and Albendazole 400 mg, which are antiparasitic agents used for the treatment of a variety of parasitic infections. Ivermectin acts by binding selectively to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, leading to paralysis and death of the parasite. Albendazole works by inhibiting the polymerization of parasite microtubules, thereby disrupting essential cellular processes and leading to parasite death. Wofeca Tablet is indicated for the treatment of intestinal helminthiasis, including infections caused by roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and threadworms, as well as for the management of lymphatic filariasis and other tissue-invasive helminth infections. The combination therapy enhances efficacy by targeting multiple parasitic pathways, reducing the risk of resistance development. It is generally well tolerated; however, patients may experience mild side effects such as gastrointestinal discomfort, dizziness, or headache. Wofeca should be used under medical supervision, with dosage adjusted according to the patient’s weight and infection type. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to either component and use in children under specified age or weight limits. Caution is advised in pregnant or lactating women. Proper diagnosis and adherence to prescribed dosage ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
