Active composition
Ivermectin binds to glutamate-gated chloride channels in parasites, causing paralysis and preventing reproduction.
Medical applications
Ivecop 12 Tablet contains Ivermectin 12 mg, an antiparasitic agent widely used for the treatment of various parasitic infections. Ivermectin acts by binding selectively and with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in the nerve and muscle cells of invertebrates, leading to increased permeability to chloride ions, hyperpolarization, and subsequent paralysis and death of the parasite.
Ivecop 12 is indicated for the treatment of strongyloidiasis, onchocerciasis, and other parasitic infestations such as scabies and certain types of lice. It is also employed off-label for other parasitic infections as determined by clinical judgment. The tablet is administered orally, with dosing typically based on body weight and the specific infection being treated. Ivecop 12 should be taken with water on an empty stomach to enhance absorption.
Common side effects may include dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and mild skin reactions, although it is generally well-tolerated. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment or those taking concomitant medications that may interact with Ivermectin. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ivermectin or any component of the formulation. Use during pregnancy and lactation should be under strict medical supervision.
Always consult a healthcare professional before initiating therapy with Ivecop 12 Tablet.
