Alendronic Acid (70mg)
Active composition
Alendronic Acid inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, leading to increased bone mineral density and reduced fracture risk.
Medical applications
Osteofos 70 Tablet contains Alendronic Acid 70 mg, a bisphosphonate indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at increased risk of fractures. Alendronic Acid acts by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing the incidence of vertebral and non-vertebral fractures. Osteofos 70 is primarily prescribed to patients with established osteoporosis, glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, and Paget’s disease of bone. The tablet should be taken orally with a full glass of water upon waking, at least 30 minutes before the first food, beverage, or other medication of the day to ensure optimal absorption. Patients are advised to remain upright for at least 30 minutes post-administration to minimize the risk of esophageal irritation or ulceration. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal discomfort, dyspepsia, and musculoskeletal pain. Contraindications include esophageal abnormalities, hypocalcemia, and inability to remain upright. Adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D is recommended to enhance therapeutic outcomes. Regular monitoring of renal function and serum calcium levels is advised during prolonged therapy. Osteofos 70 Tablet should be used under medical supervision to ensure safety and efficacy in managing bone-related disorders.
