Gatofos 35 Tablet contains Alendronic Acid 35 mg, a bisphosphonate used primarily in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. Alendronic Acid acts by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing the risk of fractures, particularly in postmenopausal women and individuals receiving corticosteroid therapy. Gatofos 35 is indicated for the management of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women to reduce the incidence of vertebral and hip fractures.

It is also prescribed for the treatment of Paget’s disease of bone and to prevent glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis in patients undergoing long-term corticosteroid treatment. The tablet should be taken orally with a full glass of water on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before the first food, beverage, or other medication of the day, to enhance absorption and reduce gastrointestinal irritation.
Patients are advised to remain upright for at least 30 minutes post-dose to minimize the risk of esophageal irritation or ulceration. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, dyspepsia, and musculoskeletal pain. Use of Gatofos 35 should be under medical supervision, with regular monitoring of bone mineral density and renal function, especially in patients with pre-existing renal impairment.
