Alendronic Acid (35mg)
Active composition
Alendronic Acid inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, leading to increased bone mineral density and reduced fracture risk.
Medical applications
Osteofos 35 Tablet contains Alendronic Acid 35 mg, a bisphosphonate used primarily for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. Alendronic Acid works by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing the risk of fractures, particularly in postmenopausal women and patients receiving corticosteroid therapy. Osteofos 35 is indicated for the management of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women to reduce the incidence of vertebral and hip fractures, as well as in men with osteoporosis to improve bone mass. Additionally, it is used in the treatment of Paget’s disease of bone and other conditions characterized by increased bone turnover. The tablet should be taken orally with a full glass of water on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before the first food, beverage, or other medication of the day to enhance absorption and reduce gastrointestinal irritation. Patients are advised to remain upright for at least 30 minutes post-dose to prevent esophageal irritation or ulceration. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal discomfort, dyspepsia, and musculoskeletal pain. Osteofos 35 should be used with caution in patients with esophageal abnormalities, hypocalcemia, or renal impairment. Regular monitoring of calcium levels and bone density is recommended during therapy.
