This mechanism results in the attenuation of pathological angiogenesis and fibrogenesis. Mantedanib is primarily prescribed for the management of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), where it helps to slow disease progression by reducing fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition in lung tissue. Additionally, it is utilized in the treatment of certain cancers, such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), often in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents.
The recommended dosage is one 150mg capsule taken orally twice daily with food to enhance absorption and minimize gastrointestinal adverse effects. Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and elevated liver enzymes, necessitating regular monitoring of hepatic function during therapy.
