Lignocad Gel contains Lidocaine 2% w/v, a local anesthetic agent used for topical application to provide temporary relief from pain and discomfort associated with minor skin irritations, insect bites, superficial burns, and minor wounds. Lidocaine acts by stabilizing the neuronal membrane and inhibiting the ionic fluxes required for the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses, thereby producing a localized numbing effect. Lignocad Gel is indicated for use in adults and children over the age of two years to alleviate pain and itching caused by dermatological conditions. The gel formulation allows for rapid absorption and localized action with minimal systemic exposure. It should be applied sparingly to the affected area and gently rubbed in until fully absorbed, avoiding contact with eyes, mucous membranes, or broken skin unless specifically directed. Use of Lignocad Gel should be limited to the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms, generally not exceeding seven days without medical advice. Caution is advised in patients with known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or other amide-type local anesthetics. Adverse effects are rare but may include localized irritation, redness, or allergic reactions. Lignocad Gel should be stored at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
