Kanamycin (750mg)
Active composition
Kanamycin binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis and causing bacterial cell death.
Medical applications
Kanamac 750 Injection contains Kanamycin sulfate equivalent to 750 mg of Kanamycin per dose and is an aminoglycoside antibiotic indicated for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains of aerobic gram-negative bacilli and certain gram-positive organisms. It is primarily used in severe infections such as septicemia, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, bone and joint infections, and meningitis where other less toxic antibiotics are ineffective or contraindicated. Kanamycin exerts its bactericidal effect by binding irreversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis and leading to bacterial cell death. Kanamac 750 Injection is administered intramuscularly or intravenously under strict medical supervision, with dosage adjusted based on the severity of infection, renal function, and patient response. Monitoring of renal function and auditory capacity is essential during therapy due to potential nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity associated with aminoglycosides. Caution is advised in patients with pre-existing renal impairment, neuromuscular disorders, or hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides. Kanamac 750 should not be used concomitantly with other nephrotoxic or ototoxic drugs unless absolutely necessary. Proper aseptic technique must be followed during administration to prevent contamination and adverse reactions.
