Kanamac 1000 Injection contains Kanamycin sulfate equivalent to 1 gram of Kanamycin per vial and is an aminoglycoside antibiotic indicated for the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains of aerobic gram-negative bacilli and certain gram-positive organisms. It is primarily used in severe infections such as septicemia, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, bone and joint infections, and meningitis when caused by sensitive bacteria. Kanamycin acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, resulting in bactericidal activity. The injection is administered intramuscularly or intravenously under strict medical supervision, with dosage and duration tailored to the severity of infection, renal function, and patient response. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, hearing loss, or neuromuscular disorders due to the risk of nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, and neuromuscular blockade. Monitoring of renal function and auditory capacity is recommended during therapy. Kanamac 1000 Injection should be used judiciously to prevent the development of resistant bacterial strains. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides. Adverse effects may include nausea, rash, and injection site reactions.
