Jupitro 50 Tablet contains Eltrombopag 50 mg, a thrombopoietin receptor agonist used primarily to treat thrombocytopenia in patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), chronic hepatitis C-associated thrombocytopenia, and severe aplastic anemia. Eltrombopag stimulates the production of platelets by binding to the transmembrane domain of the thrombopoietin receptor (c-Mpl) on megakaryocyte progenitor cells, thereby promoting megakaryocyte proliferation and differentiation.

This action helps increase platelet counts, reducing the risk of bleeding complications. Jupitro 50 is indicated for adult and pediatric patients who have had an insufficient response to corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or splenectomy. The tablet should be administered orally once daily, with dosing adjustments based on platelet response and liver function tests. It is essential to monitor platelet counts regularly to avoid excessive thrombocytosis, which may increase the risk of thromboembolic events.
Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, and periodic liver function monitoring is recommended due to potential hepatotoxicity. Jupitro 50 should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to Eltrombopag or any excipients. Concomitant use with other thrombopoietic agents is not recommended. This medication should be prescribed and used under strict medical supervision.
