Active composition
Ivermectin binds to glutamate-gated chloride channels in parasites, causing paralysis and preventing reproduction.
Medical applications
Ivecop 6 Tablet contains Ivermectin 6 mg, an antiparasitic agent widely used for the treatment of various parasitic infections. Ivermectin acts by binding selectively to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in the nerve and muscle cells of invertebrates, leading to increased permeability to chloride ions, hyperpolarization, paralysis, and death of the parasite. It is indicated for the treatment of strongyloidiasis, onchocerciasis, and other nematode infections.
Additionally, Ivecop 6 may be used off-label for certain ectoparasitic infestations such as scabies and lice under medical supervision. The tablet formulation allows for oral administration, providing convenient dosing and systemic absorption. Ivermectin is generally well tolerated; however, adverse effects may include dizziness, gastrointestinal disturbances, and mild dermatological reactions.
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to ivermectin or any component of the formulation. Caution is advised in patients with impaired liver function or concomitant use of other medications metabolized by the cytochrome P450 system. Ivecop 6 should be used strictly as prescribed by a healthcare professional, with dosage adjusted according to the specific infection and patient weight.
Proper adherence to treatment guidelines ensures optimal efficacy and minimizes the risk of resistance development.
