Idrofos 150 Tablet contains Ibandronic Acid 150mg, a bisphosphonate indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and other conditions associated with increased bone resorption. Ibandronic Acid acts by inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, thereby increasing bone mineral density and reducing the risk of fractures. It is commonly prescribed for patients at high risk of vertebral fractures and may also be used in the management of Paget’s disease of bone and other metabolic bone disorders.

The recommended dosage is typically one 150mg tablet taken once monthly, preferably on an empty stomach with a full glass of water, and the patient should remain upright for at least 60 minutes post-dose to minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Caution is advised in patients with renal impairment, hypocalcemia, or esophageal abnormalities. Common adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as dyspepsia, esophagitis, and nausea, while rare but serious side effects may include osteonecrosis of the jaw and atypical femoral fractures.
Regular monitoring of calcium levels and renal function is recommended during therapy. Idrofos 150 Tablet should be used under medical supervision with appropriate supplementation of calcium and vitamin D to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
