The tablet is administered orally, typically once monthly, with specific instructions to take it on an empty stomach with a full glass of water, remaining upright for at least 60 minutes post-dose to minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, esophageal irritation, and transient flu-like symptoms. Contraindications include hypocalcemia, esophageal abnormalities, and inability to remain upright for the recommended period.
Adequate calcium and vitamin D supplementation should be ensured during therapy to optimize treatment outcomes. Regular monitoring of renal function and serum calcium levels is advised.
