Metoprolol Succinate (50mg) + Telmisartan (40mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Metoprolol Succinate blocks beta-1 adrenergic receptors, leading to decreased heart rate and contractility, thereby lowering blood pressure.
Telmisartan selectively blocks angiotensin II receptors, leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure.
Medical applications
Zylol-T 50 Tablet ER is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Metoprolol Succinate 50 mg, formulated for extended release to provide sustained blood pressure control. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to decreased peripheral vascular resistance and blood pressure. Metoprolol Succinate, a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker, decreases heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, contributing to blood pressure reduction and improved cardiac function. This combination is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, including patients who require multiple agents for optimal blood pressure management, and may also be beneficial in reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with concomitant cardiac conditions such as ischemic heart disease or heart failure. Zylol-T 50 Tablet ER should be administered once daily, with dosage adjustments based on clinical response and tolerability. Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, and hypotension. Caution is advised in patients with bradycardia, heart block, or severe hepatic impairment. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy.
