Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to decreased blood pressure. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting vasodilation and reducing peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these agents provides effective blood pressure control, minimizing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction.
