Yanomet-AM 50/5 Tablet PR is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Amlodipine 5 mg and Metoprolol Succinate 50 mg. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, acts by inhibiting calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. Metoprolol Succinate, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker, decreases heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing myocardial oxygen demand.
