How It Works

Xstan-AM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to decreased blood pressure. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting vasodilation and reducing peripheral vascular resistance.

The synergistic action of these two agents provides effective blood pressure control in patients with essential hypertension, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and other hypertensive complications. Xstan-AM is indicated for patients who require combination therapy to achieve target blood pressure levels when monotherapy is insufficient.
It is generally well tolerated; common adverse effects may include dizziness, peripheral edema, headache, and fatigue. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and it should be used under medical supervision with regular monitoring of blood pressure and renal function. Xstan-AM Tablet offers a convenient once-daily dosing regimen to enhance patient compliance in managing hypertension.
