Telmisartan (40mg) + Cilnidipine (10mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Telmisartan selectively blocks angiotensin II receptors, leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure.
Cilnidipine inhibits L-type and N-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure.
Medical applications
Xartus LN Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Cilnidipine 10mg and Telmisartan 40mg, formulated to effectively manage essential hypertension. Cilnidipine, a calcium channel blocker, exerts its action by inhibiting L-type and N-type calcium channels, leading to vasodilation of peripheral arteries and reduction in sympathetic nerve activity, thereby decreasing blood pressure. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, resulting in vasodilation, decreased aldosterone secretion, and reduced sodium and water retention. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides enhanced blood pressure control, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal complications associated with hypertension. Xartus LN Tablet is indicated for patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy or requiring combination therapy for optimal blood pressure management. It is generally well tolerated, with common adverse effects including dizziness, headache, and mild peripheral edema. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to any component, severe hepatic impairment, and pregnancy. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during treatment. Xartus LN Tablet offers a convenient once-daily dosing regimen, promoting adherence and effective long-term hypertension management.
