Wonsart-AM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Telmisartan 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in peripheral arterial vasodilation and decreased systemic vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these agents effectively lowers blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and other hypertensive complications. Wonsart-AM is indicated for patients inadequately controlled on monotherapy or those requiring combination therapy for optimal blood pressure management. It is generally well tolerated; however, potential adverse effects include dizziness, peripheral edema, headache, and hypotension. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, and it is contraindicated during pregnancy. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy.
