Olpress 20 AM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg, designed to effectively manage hypertension. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, resulting in vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion, thereby lowering blood pressure. Amlodipine, a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting vasodilation and decreasing peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these agents provides enhanced blood pressure control compared to monotherapy, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. Olpress 20 AM is indicated for patients with essential hypertension who require combination therapy to achieve target blood pressure goals.
