How It Works
Olmesartan Medoxomil blocks angiotensin II receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and lowering blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule, leading to increased urine output and decreased blood volume.
Amlodipine inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced myocardial oxygen demand.

Olmy-AH Tablet is a fixed-dose combination medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg, Amlodipine 5 mg, and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, indicated for the management of hypertension. Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), functions by inhibiting the vasoconstrictive effects of angiotensin II, thereby reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure.

Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, promotes vasodilation by inhibiting calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle cells, further contributing to blood pressure reduction. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, facilitates the excretion of sodium and water by acting on the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, decreasing plasma volume and systemic vascular resistance.
The combination of these three agents offers complementary mechanisms of action, providing enhanced antihypertensive efficacy compared to monotherapy. Olmy-AH is indicated for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy or dual therapy. It is essential to monitor renal function, electrolytes, and blood pressure regularly during treatment. Caution is advised in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, electrolyte imbalance, or hypersensitivity to any component.
Olmy-AH should be used under medical supervision, with adherence to prescribed dosage to optimize therapeutic outcomes and minimize adverse effects.
