Olmibite H 20 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg and Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, acts by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, promoting diuresis and reducing plasma volume, which helps lower blood pressure. Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, leading to vasodilation, decreased aldosterone secretion, and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides effective management of hypertension, improving blood pressure control in patients inadequately responsive to monotherapy. Olmibite H 20 is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and is beneficial in reducing the risk of cardiovascular events associated with high blood pressure. It should be used under medical supervision with regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolyte levels due to the potential risk of electrolyte imbalance, hypotension, and renal impairment. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to components, severe renal or hepatic impairment, and pregnancy.
