Olmibite AM 40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting arterial vasodilation and decreasing peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents provides effective blood pressure control in patients with essential hypertension, especially those inadequately managed with monotherapy. Olmibite AM 40 is indicated for the treatment of hypertension to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. It is generally well tolerated; however, adverse effects may include dizziness, headache, peripheral edema, and fatigue. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic impairment, severe hypotension, or a history of angioedema. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy.
