Olmezest H 40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg and Olmesartan Medoxomil 40 mg. This formulation is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, aiming to achieve optimal blood pressure control and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby promoting vasodilation and decreasing aldosterone secretion, which leads to reduced blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, enhances sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, contributing to decreased blood volume and peripheral resistance. The combination of these two agents provides a complementary mechanism of action, improving antihypertensive efficacy compared to monotherapy. Olmezest H 40 is generally well tolerated; however, monitoring of electrolyte levels, renal function, and blood pressure is recommended during therapy.
