Olmewon H 20 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg and Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, promotes diuresis by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, leading to decreased plasma volume and reduced blood pressure. Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, resulting in vasodilation and decreased peripheral resistance. The combination of these two agents provides complementary mechanisms for effective blood pressure control in patients with essential hypertension. Olmewon H 20 Tablet is indicated for the management of hypertension when monotherapy is insufficient to achieve target blood pressure levels. Clinical use of this combination has demonstrated improved efficacy and tolerability compared to monotherapy with either component alone. Patients should be monitored for electrolyte imbalances, renal function, and blood pressure response during therapy. Contraindications include hypersensitivity to either component, anuria, and severe renal impairment. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, or volume depletion.
