Olmewon AM 20 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to vasodilation and reduction in blood pressure. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting arterial vasodilation and decreasing peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents effectively lowers blood pressure in patients with hypertension, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. Olmewon AM 20 Tablet is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, particularly in patients who require dual therapy for optimal blood pressure control.
