How It Works
Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule, leading to increased urine output and decreased blood volume.
Olmesartan Medoxomil blocks angiotensin II receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and lowering blood pressure.

Olmetor-H Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg and Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that promotes the excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, thereby reducing blood volume and lowering blood pressure. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, leading to vasodilation and decreased aldosterone secretion, which further contributes to blood pressure reduction.

The combination of these two agents provides complementary mechanisms to effectively manage hypertension, improving blood pressure control more than either agent alone. Olmetor-H is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. It is generally well tolerated but may cause side effects such as dizziness, hypotension, electrolyte imbalances, or renal function alterations.
Regular monitoring of blood pressure, electrolytes, and renal function is recommended during therapy. Olmetor-H should be used with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment and is contraindicated in pregnancy and hypersensitivity to its components.
Dosage & How to Use
How to use Olmetor-H Tablet Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Olmetor-H Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Olmetor-H Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
