Olmecip H 40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg and Olmesartan Medoxomil 40 mg. This formulation is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, helping to lower elevated blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, resulting in vasodilation and decreased aldosterone secretion, thereby reducing blood pressure.

Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, promotes the excretion of sodium and water by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, which further aids in lowering blood pressure through volume reduction. The combination of these two agents provides complementary mechanisms of action, enhancing antihypertensive efficacy. Olmecip H 40 is typically administered once daily, with dosage adjustments based on patient response and tolerability.
It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to either component, anuria, or severe renal impairment. Common adverse effects may include dizziness, hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
