Olmecaid M 25 Tablet ER is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 20 mg and Metoprolol Succinate 25 mg. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to decreased blood pressure. Metoprolol Succinate is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that reduces heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, contributing to blood pressure reduction and decreased myocardial oxygen demand.

The extended-release formulation ensures a steady plasma concentration, enhancing patient compliance and maintaining therapeutic efficacy over 24 hours. Olmecaid M 25 is indicated for the management of hypertension, particularly in patients who require dual therapy for optimal blood pressure control. It may also be beneficial in patients with concomitant cardiovascular conditions such as ischemic heart disease or heart failure, where beta-blockade is advantageous.
Caution is advised in patients with bradycardia, heart block, or severe hepatic impairment. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy.
