How It Works

Olmax-3D 40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 40 mg, Amlodipine 5 mg, and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), acts by inhibiting the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, resulting in vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion, thereby lowering blood pressure.

Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, facilitates arterial vasodilation by inhibiting calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, contributing to decreased peripheral resistance. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, promotes sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, reducing plasma volume and peripheral vascular resistance.
The combination of these three agents provides a complementary mechanism of action, enhancing antihypertensive efficacy in patients with essential hypertension who require multiple drug therapy for optimal blood pressure control. Olmax-3D 40 is indicated for the management of hypertension to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. It should be used under medical supervision with periodic monitoring of electrolytes, renal function, and blood pressure to ensure safety and therapeutic effectiveness.
