Olmesartan Medoxomil (40mg) + Chlorthalidone (12.5mg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Olmesartan Medoxomil blocks angiotensin II receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and lowering blood pressure.
Medical applications
Olmas-CT Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Olmesartan Medoxomil 40mg and Chlorthalidone 12.5mg. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that promotes sodium and water excretion by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, contributing to decreased plasma volume and peripheral vascular resistance. The combination of these two agents provides complementary mechanisms for effective blood pressure control in patients with essential hypertension. Olmas-CT is indicated for the management of hypertension when monotherapy with either component is insufficient. Clinical studies have demonstrated that this combination improves blood pressure reduction more effectively than either agent alone, with a favorable safety profile. Patients should be monitored for electrolyte imbalances, renal function, and blood pressure regularly during therapy. Use of Olmas-CT should be avoided in patients with hypersensitivity to its components, severe renal impairment, or anuria. This medication should be used under medical supervision with appropriate dose adjustments based on therapeutic response.

Important precautions
Based on clinical trials and patient reports.
Overall Tolerance
Common Side Effects
Olmas-CT Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.

Olmas-CT Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
