Oldbeta-XL 50 Tablet contains Metoprolol Succinate 47.5 mg, a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker used primarily in the management of hypertension, angina pectoris, and heart failure. By selectively inhibiting beta-1 receptors in the heart, Metoprolol reduces heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, thereby decreasing oxygen demand and lowering blood pressure. This extended-release formulation allows for once-daily dosing, providing consistent plasma levels and improved patient compliance. Oldbeta-XL 50 is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, management of stable angina to prevent anginal attacks, and as part of standard therapy for chronic heart failure to improve survival and reduce hospitalizations. It is also used post-myocardial infarction to reduce mortality. Caution is advised in patients with bradycardia, heart block, or severe peripheral arterial disease. Common adverse effects include fatigue, dizziness, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
