Metclot 20/50 Tablet SR is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Cilnidipine 20 mg and Metoprolol Succinate 50 mg in a sustained-release formulation. Cilnidipine, a calcium channel blocker, acts by inhibiting L-type and N-type calcium channels, leading to vasodilation and reduction in peripheral vascular resistance, thereby lowering blood pressure. Metoprolol Succinate, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker, decreases heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, contributing to effective blood pressure control and reducing the risk of cardiovascular events.

The sustained-release formulation ensures a gradual release of active ingredients, promoting consistent plasma concentrations and improved patient compliance through once-daily dosing. Metclot 20/50 is indicated for the management of hypertension, especially in patients requiring combination therapy for optimal blood pressure control. It may also be beneficial in patients with concomitant conditions such as angina pectoris or certain cardiac arrhythmias, under medical supervision.
Caution is advised in patients with bradycardia, heart block, or severe hepatic impairment. Common adverse effects include dizziness, fatigue, and peripheral edema.
