Fluticasone Propionate (500mcg) + Formoterol (12mcg)
Active composition
+1 more active ingredient
Fluticasone Propionate works by binding to glucocorticoid receptors, leading to the transcriptional regulation of anti-inflammatory proteins and inhibition of pro-inflammatory mediators, reducing airway inflammation.
Medical applications
Maxiflo Forte Rotacap is a combination inhalation medication containing Formoterol 12 mcg and Fluticasone Propionate 500 mcg, indicated for the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Formoterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that provides sustained bronchodilation by relaxing airway smooth muscle, thereby improving airflow and reducing symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath. Fluticasone Propionate is a potent inhaled corticosteroid that exerts anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting multiple inflammatory cells and mediators, reducing airway hyperresponsiveness and preventing exacerbations. Maxiflo Forte Rotacap is designed for maintenance therapy to control persistent respiratory symptoms and improve lung function. The combination of Formoterol and Fluticasone Propionate offers both rapid onset and prolonged duration of action, optimizing symptom control and enhancing patient compliance. It is administered via a rotacap device, ensuring accurate dosing and effective delivery to the lower respiratory tract. Maxiflo Forte Rotacap should be used regularly as prescribed and is not intended for relief of acute bronchospasm. Patients should be monitored for potential side effects, including oral candidiasis, dysphonia, and systemic corticosteroid effects with long-term use. This medication should be used under medical supervision with appropriate patient education on inhaler technique.
How to use Maxiflo Rotacap Rotacaps must not be swallowed. Check the label for directions before use. Place the capsule at the base of rotahaler, not in the mouthpiece. Twist the mouthpiece completely until your hear a click and breathe in deeply through the mouthpiece. Hold your breath for up to 10 seconds. If some powder remains in the rotahaler repeat the process.
