How It Works

Macsart AM Tablet contains a combination of Telmisartan 40 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg, formulated for the management of hypertension. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, which leads to decreased blood pressure. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance.

The synergistic action of these two agents provides effective and sustained blood pressure control, improving cardiovascular outcomes in patients with essential hypertension. Macsart AM is indicated for patients who require combination therapy to achieve target blood pressure levels when monotherapy is insufficient. It is also beneficial in reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and other cardiovascular complications associated with hypertension.
The tablet should be administered once daily, with or without food, as prescribed by a healthcare professional. Patients should be monitored regularly for blood pressure response and potential adverse effects such as dizziness, peripheral edema, or hypotension. Macsart AM is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to its components, severe hepatic impairment, or pregnancy.
