Lumerax 40mg/240mg Tablet is a fixed-dose combination antimalarial medication containing Artemether 40mg and Lumefantrine 240mg. It is indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Artemether, a rapid-acting artemisinin derivative, exerts potent schizonticidal activity against the asexual erythrocytic stages of malaria parasites, leading to a swift reduction in parasitemia and symptomatic relief. Lumefantrine, a longer-acting antimalarial agent, complements Artemether by eliminating residual parasites, thereby reducing the risk of recrudescence. The combination therapy enhances efficacy and helps prevent the development of drug resistance. Lumerax is administered orally, typically as a six-dose regimen over three days, with doses taken at 0, 8, 24, 36, 48, and 60 hours. It is recommended to be taken with food to improve absorption.
