LTK-AM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Losartan 50 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg, designed for the management of hypertension and related cardiovascular conditions. Losartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), functions by selectively inhibiting the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby promoting vasodilation, reducing aldosterone secretion, and decreasing blood pressure. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in peripheral arterial vasodilation and reduced systemic vascular resistance. The synergistic action of these two agents provides effective blood pressure control, improving patient compliance by combining two mechanisms in a single tablet. LTK-AM is indicated for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with either Losartan or Amlodipine alone.
