Lowtel 40 Tablet contains Telmisartan 40 mg, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used primarily for the management of hypertension. By selectively inhibiting the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, Telmisartan promotes vasodilation, reduces aldosterone secretion, and decreases sodium and water retention, thereby lowering blood pressure effectively. This mechanism helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and heart failure in hypertensive patients.

Lowtel 40 is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension and can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. It is particularly beneficial for patients intolerant to angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. The tablet is administered orally, usually once daily, with or without food, and dosage adjustments may be necessary based on clinical response and renal function.

Common adverse effects include dizziness, headache, and fatigue, while serious side effects are rare but may include hypotension and renal impairment. Caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal dysfunction, and it is contraindicated during pregnancy. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes is recommended during therapy to ensure safety and efficacy.
