Lowpress-AM Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication containing Losartan 50 mg and Amlodipine 5 mg, indicated for the management of hypertension. Losartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to decreased blood pressure. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, promoting vasodilation and reducing peripheral vascular resistance. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides enhanced blood pressure control compared to monotherapy, improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal complications associated with hypertension.
