Lostat 50 Tablet contains Losartan 50 mg, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist primarily used in the management of hypertension. By selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, Losartan promotes vasodilation, thereby reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure. This mechanism helps prevent complications associated with hypertension, such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and kidney damage.

Lostat 50 is also indicated for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension, as it helps reduce proteinuria and slow the progression of renal impairment. The tablet is typically administered once daily, with dosage adjustments based on patient response and tolerability. Common adverse effects may include dizziness, headache, and fatigue, though it is generally well tolerated.
