Lostat 25mg Tablet contains Losartan potassium, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used primarily for the management of hypertension. By selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, Losartan promotes vasodilation, thereby reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure. This mechanism helps prevent complications associated with hypertension, such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal impairment. Lostat 25mg is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults and may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. Additionally, it is beneficial in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy to reduce the risk of cardiovascular morbidity. The tablet is administered orally once daily, with or without food, and dosage adjustments should be individualized based on therapeutic response and patient tolerance. Common adverse effects include dizziness, hypotension, and hyperkalemia, necessitating periodic monitoring of blood pressure, renal function, and serum electrolytes during therapy.
